Description of Classes

ASHATANGA YOGA: A beginning and intermediate level asana class for those interested in looking deeply, genuinely, and with compassion at the connection between their body and mind. The subtle nuance of the body and the dynamic energy of the mind, when focused through the grounded nature of an Ashtanga practice cultivate the sweet radiance of our own Self. Class will be at times slow and very specific to detail, while at other times moving more with vinyasa (flow).
UNIVERSAL YOGA: Integrating many of the Yoga traditions,  Universal Yoga focuses on both subtle energetics & meditation, as well as the foundational alignment-centered basics of the Iyengar tradition (see below). Universal Yoga is a full body & mind experience.  Students will work at their own pace towards safely practicing advanced inverted postures including headstand & shoulder stand.

RESTORATIVE: This class will leave the student relaxed and renewed, reaping the benefits of active relaxation and meditation. Restoratives are meditative poses in which the body is supported with props and held for extended periods of time. They body is allowed to open gently while the mind is quieted and focused on the breath. Both soothing and regenerating, restorative poses help bring balance to our daily lives.

MYOFASICAL YOGA: Is an alignment based yoga influenced by the Anatomy Trains by Thom Meyers. This style of yoga is progressive in holding asana longer to allow the myofascial tissues of the body to open and re-pattern to healthier neutral patterns for the architecture of the body. The class is taught to beginners and advanced students. For specific information go to http://balinesetraditionalmassage.com.

GENTLE YOGA: Incorporates asana into a slow, meditative, calm practice. Classes are designed to enhance well-being, increase flexibility, & gradually build strength. Perfect for beginners or advanced students to welcome soft openings and mind-body awareness. Melt away obstacles & regain a sense of peace in this safe practice environment.

MOM & BABY:  Come relax, stretch & breathe while visiting with other Mamas & babies.

PRENATAL & POSTPARTUM:  Myofascial Yoga and Restorative taught by Rob and Kirstie are both safe for prenatal yoginis. These classes are also recommend for Postpartum students.
